Join us in ELLIS (European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems, https://ellis.eu), a European AI network of excellence which focuses on fundamental science, technical innovation, and societal impact. ELLIS brings together many of the strongest AI scientists engaged in the research fields of machine learning and modern AI. The job opening is part of the ELISE project that has recently been established by ELLIS and is funded by the EU within the ICT-48 program.

Your tasks:

Your area of responsibility is PR and communications for the ELLIS initiative. In particular, the tasks include the following:

  • Planning and implementing activities for internal and external communications
  • Managing our social media platforms and developing suitable channel strategies
  • Engaging with media on the European level to increase awareness of ELLIS
  • Coordinating and responding to press inquiries and preparing interviews
  • Preparation of press releases, articles, advertisements, and presentations in both English and German
  • Content management of our websites
  • Planning and organizing outreach events and other PR activities at EU and national level
  • Support monitoring of relevant regulatory and non-regulatory events in the EU
  • Supporting visits and delegations
  • Business travel will be required

Your profile:

  • Successfully completed higher education in a relevant discipline
  • Training or professional experience in communications, ideally in the field of science and technology
  • Understanding of EU affairs and the work of EU institutions
  • Ideally, up-to-date knowledge of EU policy trends and developments relevant to Artificial Intelligence
  • Experience in social media
  • High quality drafting, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Experience with content management systems
  • Native-level English and excellent knowledge of German with strong written and oral communication skills
  • An ability to juggle many different workstreams and topics
  • Excellent organizational skills and experience with outreach events
  • Creativity, the ability to be a team player, proactivity and a self-sufficient, reliable, and friendly manner

We are looking for someone with passion for the research that we do and with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced research environment. We ask for high flexibility, great social skills, and a true team player. Salary will be based on experience according to TVöD guidelines. An initial contract will be offered for two years, and subsequent extension is envisioned. Social benefits of the public service apply. This is a full-time position. The work location will be at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen.
