Location: Berlin, two days mobile working per week

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Salary range: 44,000 - 48,000 EUR (according to experience)

The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is an international non-profit organisation that has been working to protect the natural environment and uphold human rights worldwide for over 20 years through field based investigations, high-impact films, support and training for activists and communities across the globe and high-level advocacy.

This role will lead EJF’s climate campaigns in the German context. You will be working towards our Germany-specific goals and supporting the work of EJF’s global climate team, including work streams on Loss and Damage, climate refugees and the EU and German energy transition.

EJF uses field-based evidence to provide the evidence necessary to drive advocacy for policy changes with governments and improved corporate sustainable and human-rights compatible practices.

Position overview:

Our climate campaign is raising awareness of, and driving advocacy to address, the interconnections between the climate crisis and human rights worldwide. EJF’s climate work addresses questions of climate justice on various levels. Key areas are decarbonization, including fossil fuel phase out and carbon pricing, climate refugees and related legal, political and social implications and Loss and Damage, including increased provision of accessible climate finance.

We advocate for environmental and climate justice, promoting action for the recognition of the right – for all communities – of a safe, sustainable environment.

Given the EU specific and broader global importance of German government policies and German industry activities, EJF has identified its work in Germany as a core organisational priority.

We are looking for an outstanding professional with a strong understanding of German, European and international climate policy. You will bring expert analysis, a profound knowledge of environmental and climate justice issues, together with creative strategic and tactical thinking. Together with this you will be able to deliver compelling reports, make connections across EJF’s campaigns and will have a deep commitment to EJF’s mission and goals.
