Your team
You will report directly into the senior management team in the Directorate General Human Resources. Our Directorate General has over 100 professionals providing HR services to over 3,800 ECB employees. We enable our colleagues to excel, every day.
In your role as the Diversity and Inclusion Officer, you will catalyse and coordinate collaborative work across the organisation to promote a culture of inclusion and a working environment where all colleagues feel respected and valued.
You will work with the Director General, the HR management team and other HR staff, as well as with other key stakeholders in the institution, to deliver tangible solutions that inspire our colleagues.
You will engage with leaders and other colleagues and motivate them to continue to place diversity and inclusion at the forefront of the ECB’s agenda. You will guide and oversee work on the diversity and inclusion portfolio and identify opportunities to further increase awareness and expertise. You will incorporate researched diversity and inclusion practices into the ECB’s daily business. As the centre of expertise, you will design and implement state of the art, concrete concepts in which the ECB can further embrace diversity and inclusion.

Your role
As the Diversity and Inclusion Officer, you will:
- as the centre of expertise, catalyse and coordinate diversity and inclusion initiatives;
- drive culture change in the workplace to promote equity, creating the vision and setting the parameters and milestones to foster diversity and inclusion across the ECB;
- continuously improve and implement the ECB’s diversity and inclusion strategy, coordinating work on the measures it entails;
- lead work on monitoring the progress of our diversity and inclusion strategy, drawing up reports and proposing any action to be taken;
- set out the principles of diversity and inclusion for all ECB staff, crafting compelling messages to ensure our approach to diversity and inclusion is valued and respected;
- identify, prepare and monitor diversity and inclusion data, providing reports and making informed decisions based on relevant data and analytics;
- build strong relationships across the ECB to deepen your understanding of its functioning and increase awareness of how diversity and inclusion play a critical role;
- maintain a wide variety of internal and external networks to ensure that your solutions align with emerging trends;
- oversee external certification processes while recommending and promoting measures that ensure all requirements are met and the ECB’s commitment to diversity and inclusion meets international standards;
- represent the business area and the ECB by participating in and/or chairing internal and external meetings, maintaining excellent working contacts with members of the Eurosystem, the Single Supervisory Mechanism and other relevant international and European organisations.

Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- a master’s degree or equivalent (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
- in addition to the above, at least seven years’ experience in driving culture change within large multicultural organisations and in building, developing and implementing global strategies to advance equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace;
- a proven ability to shape the vision and set the parameters and milestones for diversity and inclusion, as well as to craft and disseminate compelling key messages to ensure that our approach is valued and respected;
- a track record of identifying, preparing and monitoring diversity and inclusion data and providing reports and analytics to measure the efforts undertaken;
- an ability to build relationships and collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders, networks and groups both internally and externally, at all levels;
- a sound understanding of the best HR practices, including current and future policies and trends;
- the ability to communicate convincingly and take effective decisions;
- an analytical, conceptual and solution-oriented mindset;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Further information
The contract offered will be fixed-term, the appointment being for five years as of the exact starting date of the selected person.
Temporary appointments may be extended or made permanent subject to organisational needs and budgetary constraints. This may result in a staff member with a non-convertible fixed-term contract being offered a convertible contract in accordance with the ECB Conditions of Employment.
