For the Corporate Public Policy department of METRO AG we are looking for a student assistant at the corporate headquarters in Düsseldorf and at the political capital office in Berlin.
As the Corporate Public Policy department of METRO AG, we pursue the goal of anchoring the central interests and positions of METRO AG, the sales companies and our customers, such as the food service and hotel industries, in political and social discussions in order to protect and sustainably strengthen the company's core business.
As a leading international food wholesaler, METRO finds itself in the midst of socio-political developments: The reduction of plastic, initiatives on animal welfare and climate protection, the digitalization of trade and the future of small and medium-sized enterprises. To this end, we seek targeted exchange with political and social decision-makers in a variety of formats.
Start date: Immediately
Duration: 12 – 24 Months
Part-Time: 20 hour/week
What you can expect:
- Collaboration in processes and projects of regional and national interest representation in the environment of retail, gastronomy and ownermanaged companies, food, innovation, digitalization as well as sustainability
- Collaboration in projects of METRO's positioning in the stakeholder dialogue in own formats, sponsorships or classic bilaterals
- Independent handling and supervision of public policy projects along the policy keyboard (communication in social media, classic dialogs, own formats, position papers, commissioned studies, etc.)
- Insight into and collaboration on cross-sectional tasks of an international public policy team
You are the perfect fit:
- Students, preferably of political science/social sciences, economics or media studies/public relations
- Interest in current reporting and stakeholders on topics related to retail, hospitality and owner-operated businesses
- Ability to work independently and familiarize yourself with complex topics at short notice
- Strong relation to and understanding of economic and political issues as well as processes
- Routine handling of various social media channels
- High level of communication skills and passion for addressing appropriate audiences
- Confident verbal and written communication skills (very good knowledge of German/ English; other languages helpful)
- Confident handling of Microsoft Office and Teams applications
