The Role

Where you fit in

Our global Corporate Relations (CR) function connects Shell to the world and the world to Shell. Its role is to build trust and strengthen connections internally and externally to help make Shell´s Powering Progress Strategy a reality. Corporate Relations monitors what is happening in the outside world and brings relevant information back inside Shell to help make informed, timely and appropriate decisions. At the same time, we take the expertise, value and vision of Shell to the outside world to work with and influence key stakeholders across society, business and government - We have a critical role to play in explaining, promoting and enabling Shell’s future strategy.

CR Germany is part of the global CR organization which reports directly into the Group CEO. CR in Germany consists of ca. 20 communicators and influencers in charge of internal communications, Policy & Advocacy, media relations, social media, business and customer communication. The team is based in Hamburg, Cologne and Berlin, working closely with the German Country Chair and German leadership teams.

As the Internal Communications Manager your role is to lead internal communications for Shell in Germany in alignment with Shell group requirements. You will play a pivotal role in driving the implementation of Shell´s Powering Progress strategy and aligning employees with the company´s values. The success of your work will positively impact employee productivity, teamwork, employee experience, and ultimately employee engagement, thus creating create a high-performance culture.

What is the role

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Create online and offline formats for effective communications with staff 
  • Oversee internal comms channels such as Yammer, Shell Hub, functional mailboxes, distribution lists, IC comms calendar, in alignment with businesses and functions within Shell
  • Advise and support the top management of Shell Germany in its communication with employees
  • Lead the internal comms focal points network
  • Create the internal comms plan
  • Create formats for engagements sessions, plan and implement townhalls, etc.
  • Closely work with media and PR agencies

What we need from you

  • Prior Internal Communication experience is a must, including writing and content creation, ideally gained in international corporates or matrixed organizations
  • Keen interest in people, communication topics, and the energy transition
  • Knowledge and proficiency in using the full range of modern IC tools and channels
  • Native German language skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in German and English with the ability to find the right tone in different settings
  • Proven track record as a trusted advisor for senior stakeholders and ability to interface with a diverse set of stakeholders both at global level and within the country
  • Ability to deliver through others
  • Ability to analyze complex sets of information in a short time span and identify relevant components
  • High level of resilience coupled with ability to successfully work in fast-paced environments and navigate complex environments.
