HR Business Partner - Labour Relations Hamburg

The Role

We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner - Labour Relations (m/f/d) to join our Germany Labour Relation team. The position will be based at our Head office in Hamburg. In this challenging role you will be building and sustaining constructive labor relationships and a healthy labor climate as well as a safe work environment in compliance with local requirements. In addition, you will ensure business continuity, defend our license to operate and provide - as required - expertise on a broad variety of topics such as litigations, Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestment activities and global projects.

What is the role

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Single Point Accountability for Employee Relations and Employee Engagement for the designated area of business
  • Manage local consultation processes and requirements
  • Manage external risks and ensure compliance with external legislative requirements
  • Provide country specific subject matter expert advice
  • Act as trusted advisor and offer coaching for front line Line Managers
  • Develop and leverage relationship with internal Employee Representative bodies
  • Run proactive interventions aimed at improving quality of leadership/ employee engagement through line managers
  • Execute Germany-specific culture and work environment programs incl. health and welfare
  • Drive and support an inclusive workforce and the overall DE&I agenda for Business and Site
  • Manage high-impact or high-risk individual or collective disciplinary, grievance or other labor relation issues incl. HSSE, Compliance & Ethics
  • Support local crisis management

What we need from you

  • University level qualification
  • Proven HR experience gained in the fields of employee engagement, industrial relations and complex case management
  • Deep subject matter expertise in country-specific labor relations legislation, regulations, directives, practices and processes
  • Deep subject matter expertise in country-specific employee representative processes including CLAs
  • Ability to identify and understand local external market trends (economic, political, social) and derive insights to drive effective a long-term labor relations environment
  • Organizational health/capability diagnostic and design skills
  • Ability to distill key themes and value drivers from complex and sometimes conflicting data and insights
  • Strong influencing skills to effectively manage a broad range of both external and internal stakeholders including 3rd party bodies and government agencies
  • Collaboration and integrative leadership (with other parts of the HR organization)
  • Languages required: German & English
