The Senior Manager Human Resources (m/f/d) based in Munich (hybrid) serves as partner to General Manager of Automation and General Manager for Customer informatics Technology and Operations. This role also provides leadership to a team of 2–3 HR professionals. The position develops and executes HR strategy in support of the business objectives including providing expertise and guidance in the areas of culture and change management, strategic coaching, talent assessment and development, succession planning, performance management, and organizational design. In addition, the Leader collaborates with Centre of Excellence (CoE) functions within Beckman Coulter Dx and Danaher to ensure the full range of people related processes (Recruitment, Talent Development, People Management, Performance Management, Learning Management and Compensation Management) are delivered with excellence.

In addition, the role oversees activities supporting Diversity & Inclusion, employee relations, compliance, HR operational activities, local initiatives, and engagement.

This role has overall responsibility for Human Resources, the Workers Council interaction, Compensation & Benefits, Payroll within Germany, and France. This role will partner closely with the HR team across Europe and in the US.

The areas of responsibility will include:

HR Consulting for the Management Team 

  • Drive people agenda for the region to acquire, develop, engage, and retain exceptional talent to drive long-term performance and results
  • Creates guidelines and is responsible for various human resource management activities such as recruiting, performance management, human resource development, talent management, and employee development
  • Counsel and support of the General Manager, the management team in all human resources matters from entry to exit
  • Guide and support the delivery of initiatives in support of Business and HR strategic priorities, talent and career development, succession planning, and Organization Talent Assessments

Organizational Management 

  • Thought leader in advancing organizational capabilities and effectiveness: lead the organizational review process that evaluates structure, competency, knowledge, and talent gaps and develop strategic strategies to fill the gaps
  • Partner of the General Manager and management team regarding the regular review of the existing structures and job profiles, to ensure the appropriate organization of all divisions
  • Develop HR programs, policies and processes and identify, track and analyze metrics to solve business problems that impact organizational effectiveness
  • Responsibility for the headcount and the corresponding annual budget
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations and compliance issues through a logical and systematic approach. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations when required
  • Negotiating with the Works Council / Union as required
  • Manage statutory audits of tax and social security office
  • Manage GDPR on Danaher and Beckman Coulter IT-tools with Works Council
  • Execution of terminations, layoffs, acquisitions, and divestures

Associate Development & Engagement 

  • Champion engagement to enable an environment where associates are engaged and developing with a goal to make us the employer of choice
  • Provide direction and lead organization and talent development to meet strategic and annual business objectives (implementation of processes, policies and programs regarding recruitment, organization development, talent development, associate engagement, succession planning, retention, management training, compensation)
  • Development and implementation of a long-term, integrated talent strategy, ensuring that the business has the talent at all levels necessary to grow
  • Embedded talent development and management as core business processes throughout the organization
  • Supports management team members to identify needed development measures for individual team members
  • Conduct skills and leadership training classes
  • Provide strategic coaching to key employees as related to succession planning, career path development, and performance management

Working together with COE 

  • Develops agreements and processes on remuneration and benefits and implements them in the company
  • Provision of complex data for Compensation, Tax, Health & Safety
  • Execution of initiatives and requests as defined by Talent Management, Compensation, Tax, Legal

HR Management 

  • Lead a team of 3 HR Business Professionals providing guidance and support, developing their capabilities towards their career goals, and enabling strong contributions to the needs of the business
  • Ensures that HR management measures are implemented to inspire, develop, and retain the potential associates within the workforce for the company
  • Implements change management processes
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations through a logical and systematic approach
  • Partner with US HR Leader to support implementation of strategic initiatives and delivery of local actions needed to support
  • Implements and tracks metrics toward key local, European, and global HR objectives, policies, processes and programs. Analyzes trends and takes action
  • Has personal ownership for key HR metrics (recruitment, development, retention etc.) and works with leaders to dive to root cause and develop and execute appropriate counter-measures where needed

HRBP Responsibilties 

  • Develop & execute personnel procedures and policies, providing guidance and interpretation for business operations
  • Coach and support managers in managing performance, talent and development processes including training and presentations
  • Coaching and consulting of managers in personnel matters
  • Consultation and support of the associates in personal relevant questions
  • Provide an effective and dedicated HR advisory service to employees in relation to absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters
  • Work closely with internal Talent Acquisition partners to manage end to end recruitment process from creating requisitions, conducting interviews, determining a compelling compensation package and all related documentation including offer letters, to drive time to fill metrics
  • Manage immigration related activities

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Minimum of 14 years of professional experience in a variety of Human Resource positions with increasing scope
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading an HR team and HR Business Partnering within a large multinational global (for profit) organization
  • Experience partnering with leaders and handling complex issues across remote and field-based associate populations
  • Experience partnering with Works Council and sound knowledge of labor laws, and government requirements
  • Demonstrated success in organizational design and change management (initiating, planning, leading, implementing), preferably in a matrixed environment
